Red Warning Lights

The first type of warning lights that might appear on the dashboard of your Jeep are the red warning lights. These include:

  • Brake Warning Light: When the word BRAKE appears on the dashboard, there might be an issue with the brake hydraulic system or the Brake Booster. First, make sure the parking brake is not on.
  • Battery Charge Warning Light: If the battery is not charging probably, an icon of a car battery will be shown on the dashboard.
  • Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Warning Light: What looks like a lightning bolt, this dashboard light is to inform you there’s a problem with the ETC system.
  • Engine Coolant Temperature Warning: This warning light, which looks like a thermometer, is an alert that the engine is overheating. You may need to pull over

Yellow Warning Lights

Other warning lights will be illuminated in yellow and also indicate a potential issue within a certain system. Some of these specific lights include:

  • Anti-Lock Braking System Warning Light: If there’s an issue detected with the anti-lock braking system, then an icon with the letters ABS will appear on the dashboard.
  • Engine Check/Malfunction Indicator Warning Light: When a picture of a car engine is shown, there could be an issue with the engine or transmission.
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System Warning Light: This warning light turns on when the tire pressure gets too low, and it appears as a tire with an exclamation point in the middle

These yellow warning lights should be addressed

Indicator Lights

Other lights that may appear on the dashboard are there to let you know when certain systems are activated or currently deactivated. These appear in various colors like green, white, and blue.

Some of them are there to let you know when certain driver-assistive features are in use if your Jeep is equipped with these systems. That includes the:

  • Active Driving Assist - Driver Attentive Indicator Light
  • Night Vision Active Indicator Light
  • Active Lane Management Indicator Light
  • Adaptive Cruise Control Set

Other indicator lights help you know if the high beams are on, the Stop/Start feature of the engine is active, or what driving mode your Jeep is currently operating in.
