RAM DASHBOARD LIGHT GUIDE
As you drive around, your truck will be constantly monitoring systems to ensure everything is safely operating. At times, though, it can detect something is not quite right, and when this happens, you’ll be informed through dashboard lights.
These are helpful warnings so that you can know the exact status of your Ram truck’s various systems and when it is time to have certain services completed. Red Warning Lights
The first type of warning lights you may find appear on the dashboard of your Ram are the red warning lights. These include lights such as:
- Brake warning light: This is shown as just the word BRAKE and comes on whenever there is an issue with the parking brake, anti-lock brake system, or brake fluid level.
- Battery Charge warning light: When the battery isn’t charging probably, an icon of a car battery will show on the dashboard.
- Electric Power Steering Fault warning light: This light is a steering wheel next to an exclamation point and is indicating a problem with the EPS system.
- Engine Coolant Temperature warning: If the engine is overheated, a picture of what appears as a thermometer submerged in liquid will pop up on the dashboard.
- Oil Pressure warning light: If the engine oil gets to low, an old oil can will be displayed.

- Air Suspension Fault warning light: This comes on when there is a malfunction with the air suspension system, and it is an icon of a truck next to an exclamation point.
- Service LaneSense warning light: If equipped with LaneSense, this warning light will illuminate when the system is not operating properly.
- Engine Check/Malfunction Indicator warning light: What is commonly referred to as the check engine light and looks like a car engine, this light could indicate various issues from damage to the catalytic converter to a loose gas cap.
- Tire Pressure Monitoring System warning light: This warning light, which looks like a bulging tire with an exclamation point in the middle, switches on when the tire pressure
Green Light Indicator
There are also green lights that might appear on your dashboard. These are helpful, since they help you remember what systems are currently in use and which ones might be deactivated at that time. Some of these include:
- Adaptive Cruise Control indicator light
- ECO Mode indicator light
- Front Fog indicator light
- Stop/Start Active indicator light
- 4WD Auto indicator light
These green lights mean you can continue to drive your truck as is, since they aren’t designating a specific issue within a system or feature.
